El Panot Barcelona Poster

Retro Barcelona poster inspired by traditional Nolla mosaic floors and Catalan decorative design by Cha

El Nolla is part of the Lotería Barcelonesa™ series by Cha, a playful reinterpretation of traditional lottery cards through the symbols, habits, flavours and visual culture of Barcelona.

This graphic composition celebrates the geometric beauty of Nolla mosaic, a distinctive form of geometric ceramic mosaic widely used in Barcelona interiors from the late 19th century. Repeating diamonds, interlocking lines and warm mineral tones create an intricate pattern that feels both architectural and surprisingly contemporary.

Cha reimagines this heritage through the visual language of the Lotería: a single emblematic subject, a number, a bold title and a deliberately simplified composition. Muted stone, sand and charcoal tones are punctuated by deep red geometric accents, while the aged texture gives the artwork the character of a vintage printed card.

Both decorative and deeply rooted in local design history, El Nolla turns something usually found beneath our feet into the protagonist of the artwork. It is a tribute to the extraordinary details hidden inside Barcelona’s buildings and to a decorative tradition that has helped shape the visual identity of Catalan interiors.

Part of the wider Spanish Capsule™ collection, the Lotería Barcelonesa series celebrates Barcelona through vintage inspired textures, graphic forms and familiar local references reimagined as collectible art prints.

FUN FACT

Nolla mosaic became a fashionable flooring choice in Barcelona from the late 1880s to the early 20th century. Made from small, individually coloured ceramic pieces arranged into intricate geometric compositions, it offered architects an extraordinary range of decorative possibilities.

During the 1890s and early 1900s, Nolla mosaic and hydraulic tiles could both be found in Barcelona interiors. Hydraulic tiles eventually became more widespread, making surviving Nolla floors a distinctive reminder of an earlier chapter in the city’s decorative history.

BEFORE YOU ORDER

Everything You Need to Know

New to MyRetroPoster? Here are the answers to the questions our customers ask most often before ordering their first print.
