A visit to Sitges that inspired their wedding
Almost a year before their wedding, Sarah and John travelled to Sitges from the United States to prepare for their big day.
During that trip, they discovered the MyRetroPoster gallery and immediately connected with Alecse’s vintage-inspired travel posters.
Before returning home, they had already made an important decision.
Rather than offering traditional wedding favours, they wanted to give their guests something meaningful, something that people would actually keep.
They also knew exactly which three posters from the collection they wanted Alecse to personalize.
Creating everything from across the Atlantic
Back in the United States, Sarah and John contacted us to begin the personalization process.
Although we were separated by thousands of kilometres, the entire project was completed remotely.
One of the aspects Sarah particularly mentions in her review is something Alecse always enjoys working on: typography.
Instead of sending a single proposal, he prepared several combinations of fonts and colour palettes for each of the three posters, allowing the couple to compare different moods and personalities before choosing the final versions.
“Typography changes everything,” Alecse often says. “The illustration tells the story of a place. The typography tells the story of the people.”
Little by little, the three posters became uniquely theirs.
Each one featured their names, wedding details and carefully chosen design elements while preserving the atmosphere of the original artwork.
Three posters, matching postcards, one unforgettable day
The personalized posters were only part of the project.
Sarah and John also ordered matching personalized postcards based on the same three artworks.
Shortly before the wedding, they returned to Sitges to collect the postcards personally from our gallery.
Instead of giving their guests traditional wedding favours that might eventually be forgotten, they offered beautifully printed keepsakes inspired by places that meant something to them.
It’s the kind of gift people often keep long after the celebration has ended.
Once the wedding was over, the three large personalized posters were carefully shipped to the couple’s home in the United States, where they now continue to celebrate that special chapter every single day.
A personalized poster doesn’t have to start from scratch
One thing many visitors don’t realise is that a personalized poster isn’t necessarily a completely custom illustration.
Several years ago, Alecse introduced personalized Las Vegas Wedding Chapel Posters, allowing couples who had married in Las Vegas to add their own names and wedding date to the artwork.
