Cha: The Heart and Sketchbook Behind the Posters

Black and white portrait of Cha, illustrator and co-founder of Myretroposter, sitting in Palma de Mallorca. A mother and retro poster artist known for collections like Soft Pop Studio™, Vintage Exotics™, and The Great Indian Décor™

Behind every poster at Myretroposter, there’s a person — and often, that person is Cha. Mother of two, feminist, illustrator, lifelong doodler, and co-founder of the brand. Her art is not just vintage-inspired designs—it’s a reflection of her heart, her journey, and her humanity.

Drawing Comes First

Cha has been drawing since she was a child. Always. Her notebooks were full of sketches long before she studied art history at Christie’s or the art market at Sotheby’s IESA. That playful hand—doodling, inventing, sketching in margins—remains her creative core.

A Decade in Sri Lanka, and a Taste for Asia

From Bordeaux to Sri Lanka, and now Sitges—each chapter shaped her work. The ten years spent in Sri Lanka with Alecse, creating and designing at Upali Beach Surf Resort, steeped her aesthetic in bohemian earthiness and Asian textures. That sensibility blossoms today in collections like Vintage Exotics™ and The Great Indian Décor™, whose matchbox-inspired graphics recall that region’s vibrant visual culture.

A Cook Who Reads Slowly

Cha is also a brilliant cook. She brings the same care to her recipes—whether it’s crafting a spicy curry or baking a simple loaf—as she does to her art. And when she finds a novel she loves, she doesn’t rush. Unlike many who read at full speed, Cha savors it, stretching a beloved book over weeks or months. Her current read, The alchemy of desire (Loin de Chandigarh in French) by Tarun J. Tejpal, takes her back to the northern India of the 1980s and 90s — a sweeping love story interwoven with the “Prema, Karma, Artha, Kama, Satya” themes of love, action, wealth, desire, and truth  .

A Dedicated Mother, Full of Doubts

She is also the most caring, present mom—managing motherhood with the same dedication with which she refines her illustrations. That perfectionism lives in notebooks filled with drawings—many of them never published, quietly resting in boxes—because Cha is always reworking, re-envisioning. It’s that doubt, that drive to get things just right, that make the ones she does release so compelling.

Collections Born from Life

Soft Pop Studio™, Spanish Capsule™, Wanderer Maps™, and Vintage Exotics™: each collection is an extension of her life and loves. And there’s The Great Indian Décor™—originally conceived as a home-linen project, designed with batiks and prototypes in mind. But when COVID paused production, Cha turned those patterns into posters—and this pivot became one of her most beloved series.

Made by Her, Not by AI

Every Cha poster is a limited edition, produced on high-quality paper, printed with fine-art inks, and meant to stay beautiful on your wall for years. In a world awash in AI-generated images, Cha reminds us that real art comes from a human being. From her hands, her memories, her ethos.
