The Art of Blur: Alecse's Unique Poster Style

Alecse or the Art of Blur

In a world where ultra-high-definition (UHD) screens dominate our viewing experience, Alecse stands out with his unique approach to poster art. His distinctive style, characterized by blurs and halftones, invites viewers to engage their imagination and memory, creating a magical representation of travel destinations.

The Magic of Imperfection

Alecse detests UHD televisions that make even the greatest films look like they were shot with a personal camcorder. "You lose the magic of cinema," he says. This aversion to hyper-realism informs his artistic choices, where the goal is not to replicate reality with pixel-perfect precision but to evoke the essence and emotion of a place.

"I use blur effects to give the brain a margin to do its own focusing and ultimately reappropriate the memory"Capturing the Essence of a Destination

Alecse believes that no single image can encapsulate the entirety of a location or destination. "Even the people we love the most, we don’t remember them in a precise HD image," he explains. Instead, our memories are composed of salient points and features, and it is our brains that weave these elements together to create a cohesive, magical whole.

The Brain's Role in Creating Magic

This understanding of memory informs Alecse's use of blurs in his posters. By incorporating blurred elements, he provides space for the viewer's brain to make its own connections and bring the image into focus. "I use blur effects to give the brain a margin to do its own focusing and ultimately reappropriate the memory," he shares.

A Signature Style

Alecse creates all his posters in a large 4XL size (80x120 cm) at 300 dpi. Each poster is printed using fine art 12 giclées on EMA matte paper, ensuring high-quality prints with a matte finish that is integral to his artistic vision. His posters are available in all sizes from his masterfile, including the oversized 5XL, the only oversize offered. His technique not only differentiates his work but also ensures that each poster serves as a vivid, personal representation of a travel destination, inviting viewers to experience the magic of memory and imagination.
