Royal Rooms Sitges Poster - Artful Travel™ Collection by Alecse

The Royal Rooms Sitges Poster by Alecse. This elegant travel poster captures one of Sitges’ most emblematic buildings — the historic Royal Rooms on Carrer de Francesc Gumà, a symbol of early 20th-century Mediterranean architecture. With its distinctive tower, pastel façade, and palm-lined entrance, the artwork exudes the charm of Sitges’ golden era.

Rendered in Alecse’s signature halftone vintage technique, the piece evokes the warm, sun-washed tones of classic travel posters. The soft ochres, faded turquoise shutters, and mid-century typography “THE ROYAL ROOMS – SITGES” blend into a nostalgic palette that feels both elegant and timeless. Every brush-like detail captures the harmony of light, architecture, and sea breeze typical of Sitges.

About the place: The Royal Rooms, built in 1901, is an icon of Sitges’ Belle Époque heritage. Once a luxurious guesthouse, it hosted aristocrats, travelers, and artists drawn to the town’s bohemian atmosphere. Today, the building stands as a local landmark near the train station, preserving its original spirit through art and hospitality — a perfect subject for Alecse’s travel poster revival series.

Printed with the Fine Art Giclée process on museum-quality matte paper, this limited edition of 300 copies combines historical reverence with Alecse’s contemporary retro aesthetic. A must-have for collectors of Mediterranean and architectural art prints.

FUN FACTS

  • The Royal Rooms were among the first modernist guesthouses in Sitges, blending Catalan Art Nouveau with coastal design influences.
  • Alecse recreated the building from his own reference photography, ensuring the architectural details and light remain true to the original.
  • The halftone grain visible in large formats mimics 1950s lithographic printing, adding authentic depth and character to the poster.

Alecse’s Vintage Style: blurs & grains

This vintage travel poster of Royal Rooms Sitges Poster reflects Alecse’s distinctive artistic approach. Through his signature half-tone render, the artwork evokes the atmosphere of with a timeless retro aesthetic.

Alecse's Original Travel Posters are celebrated for their unique half-tone render, a signature style that plays a crucial role in their appeal and authenticity. This distinctive digital effect is intentionally used to mimic the old poster printing process, where colors were rendered by the juxtaposition of dots of different sizes and colors. This method is a nod to vintage aesthetics, giving each poster a classic, retro look that aficionados of vintage travel and retro posters appreciate.

Half-Tone vs. Pixelization:

  • Half-Tone is an artistic technique used to create shading and texture effects in images. It involves the arrangement of dots of varying sizes and spacing to simulate different shades of color. This technique was traditionally used in the printing industry to reproduce photographs and illustrations with a limited color palette, contributing to a poster's vintage appearance.
  • Pixelization, on the other hand, refers to an effect seen in digital images when they are enlarged beyond their resolution. This results in the individual pixels becoming visible, making the image appear blocky or mosaic-like. Pixelization is often considered a flaw or limitation of digital images, unlike the half-tone effect, which is a deliberate artistic choice.

like all his posters, Royal Rooms Sitges Poster by Alecse™ is printed in Fine Art 12 Giclées, ensuring high-quality reproductions that honor the original artistic intent. While these art prints are not meant to be crisp like photographs and intentionally include blurs and vintage effects, it's essential to distinguish these artistic choices from potential printing defects. A clear indication of a print's quality is the crispness of the signature and titles; if these elements are not sharp, it may indicate a printing issue.

For those interested in the intricate details of Alecse's work or wanting to appreciate the half-tone effect fully, we offer the option to receive a close-up picture in High Definition before placing an order. This allows customers to make informed decisions and ensures satisfaction with their purchase of vintage travel and retro posters, enhancing their collection with pieces that truly represent the artist's vision and the era's printing techniques.

Please contact us if you wish to receive a close-up picture of Royal Rooms Sitges Poster in High Definition before placing your order.
