Tashkent Poster Stone City - Artful Travel™ Collection by Alecse

Tashkent Stone City Travel Poster

Discover Tashkent through one of its most recognizable modernist landmarks. This vintage-inspired travel poster by Alecse features the Hotel Uzbekistan, the distinctive 17-storey building overlooking Amir Temur Square in the heart of the city.

With its rhythmic facade, geometric windows and warm retro colours, the Hotel Uzbekistan gives this artwork a strong architectural character. The combination of the building, autumnal trees and the bold TASHKENT and STONE CITY lettering creates a distinctive portrait of Uzbekistan's capital.

Rather than a conventional cityscape, this poster focuses on an architectural symbol of Tashkent and the modernist character that became part of the city's identity during the 1970s.

Fun Facts About the Hotel Uzbekistan

  • A landmark of central Tashkent: The Hotel Uzbekistan stands beside Amir Temur Square and has long been one of the most recognizable buildings in the city.
  • Opened in 1974: The hotel was designed as a major modern building for the rapidly developing capital and became an important symbol of its era.
  • A distinctive modernist facade: Its exterior is made particularly memorable by the repeated concrete sun-shade panels across the facade. This geometric pattern is associated with the traditional Central Asian panjara screen.
  • Designed for a seismic city: Following the 1966 Tashkent earthquake, the hotel's final design incorporated reinforced construction and anti-seismic features.

Alecse's Technique

Alecse combines photography, drawing and painting to create his distinctive travel posters. In this Tashkent artwork, the architectural details are softened by a vintage print aesthetic, giving the Hotel Uzbekistan a nostalgic yet graphic presence.

The halftone texture is inspired by traditional poster printing, where patterns of dots were used to reproduce tones and imagery. Here it is an intentional part of the artwork rather than a printing defect, adding texture and depth to the large geometric facade.

Why Choose a Tashkent Stone City Poster?

This Tashkent poster is a distinctive choice for anyone drawn to modernist architecture, Central Asian cities and vintage travel art. The Hotel Uzbekistan gives the artwork a strong sense of place, while the bold TASHKENT and STONE CITY typography makes the destination immediately recognizable.

It brings together the architectural character of Tashkent, the visual language of 1970s modernism and Alecse's vintage travel poster style in a single piece of Uzbekistan wall art. A natural fit for travel-inspired interiors, architecture collections and spaces with an appreciation for Central Asian design.

Alecse’s Vintage Style: blurs & grains

This vintage travel poster of Tashkent Poster Stone City reflects Alecse’s distinctive artistic approach. Through his signature half-tone render, the artwork evokes the atmosphere of Uzbekistan with a timeless retro aesthetic.

Alecse's Original Travel Posters are celebrated for their unique half-tone render, a signature style that plays a crucial role in their appeal and authenticity. This distinctive digital effect is intentionally used to mimic the old poster printing process, where colors were rendered by the juxtaposition of dots of different sizes and colors. This method is a nod to vintage aesthetics, giving each poster a classic, retro look that aficionados of vintage travel and retro posters appreciate.

Half-Tone vs. Pixelization:

  • Half-Tone is an artistic technique used to create shading and texture effects in images. It involves the arrangement of dots of varying sizes and spacing to simulate different shades of color. This technique was traditionally used in the printing industry to reproduce photographs and illustrations with a limited color palette, contributing to a poster's vintage appearance.
  • Pixelization, on the other hand, refers to an effect seen in digital images when they are enlarged beyond their resolution. This results in the individual pixels becoming visible, making the image appear blocky or mosaic-like. Pixelization is often considered a flaw or limitation of digital images, unlike the half-tone effect, which is a deliberate artistic choice.

like all his posters, Tashkent Poster Stone City by Alecse™ is printed in Fine Art 12 Giclées, ensuring high-quality reproductions that honor the original artistic intent. While these art prints are not meant to be crisp like photographs and intentionally include blurs and vintage effects, it's essential to distinguish these artistic choices from potential printing defects. A clear indication of a print's quality is the crispness of the signature and titles; if these elements are not sharp, it may indicate a printing issue.

For those interested in the intricate details of Alecse's work or wanting to appreciate the half-tone effect fully, we offer the option to receive a close-up picture in High Definition before placing an order. This allows customers to make informed decisions and ensures satisfaction with their purchase of vintage travel and retro posters, enhancing their collection with pieces that truly represent the artist's vision and the era's printing techniques.

Please contact us if you wish to receive a close-up picture of Tashkent Poster Stone City in High Definition before placing your order.
