St Barth Poster 'Landing' - Artful Travel™ Collection by Alecse

Vintage travel poster of St Barthelemy, French Caribbean island, by Alecse — an elegant art print titled "Landing" that immortalizes one of the world’s most iconic airstrips: the spectacular approach to Gustaf III Airport, where planes descend just a few meters above St Jean Beach before touching down on the runway. This limited-edition artwork captures the thrilling moment when paradise and adventure meet.

Located in the Caribbean Sea, St Barthelemy — also known as St Barth — is synonymous with glamour, turquoise bays, and effortless French sophistication. Alecse’s "Landing – St Barth" poster celebrates the island’s unique mix of natural beauty and jet-set energy, translating the island’s vibrant light and golden reflections into a timeless retro design inspired by mid-century travel posters.

Alecse, the French artist behind Myretroposter, is known for blending photography, illustration, and digital painting to revive the aesthetics of the 1950s and 60s. His Artful Travels™ collection has earned international acclaim, and another of his St Barth posters — Saint Jean – St Barth — was even selected by the prestigious Assouline Editions to illustrate their collector’s guidebook “St Barts”.

Visually, this artwork combines a serene tropical palette of aquamarine blues, coral tones, and soft amber light that evoke the warmth of a Caribbean sunset. The composition contrasts the gentle horizon with the kinetic energy of the approaching plane — a symbol of both arrival and escape. Printed in limited edition, this collector’s piece brings sophistication and wanderlust to any interior.

FUN FACT

The Gustaf III Airport in St Barth is world-famous for its dramatic landings — pilots must descend over a hill before aligning with the short runway that ends just a few meters from the sea. This extraordinary scenery has become an emblem of the island and a dream destination for travel lovers and aviation enthusiasts alike.

This fine art print is part of the Artful Travels™ series and is limited to 300 numbered copies. A perfect addition for collectors, travelers, or anyone in love with the Caribbean spirit.

Alecse’s Vintage Style: blurs & grains

This vintage travel poster of St Barth Poster 'Landing' reflects Alecse’s distinctive artistic approach. Through his signature half-tone render, the artwork evokes the atmosphere of St Barts with a timeless retro aesthetic.

Alecse's Original Travel Posters are celebrated for their unique half-tone render, a signature style that plays a crucial role in their appeal and authenticity. This distinctive digital effect is intentionally used to mimic the old poster printing process, where colors were rendered by the juxtaposition of dots of different sizes and colors. This method is a nod to vintage aesthetics, giving each poster a classic, retro look that aficionados of vintage travel and retro posters appreciate.

Half-Tone vs. Pixelization:

  • Half-Tone is an artistic technique used to create shading and texture effects in images. It involves the arrangement of dots of varying sizes and spacing to simulate different shades of color. This technique was traditionally used in the printing industry to reproduce photographs and illustrations with a limited color palette, contributing to a poster's vintage appearance.
  • Pixelization, on the other hand, refers to an effect seen in digital images when they are enlarged beyond their resolution. This results in the individual pixels becoming visible, making the image appear blocky or mosaic-like. Pixelization is often considered a flaw or limitation of digital images, unlike the half-tone effect, which is a deliberate artistic choice.

like all his posters, St Barth Poster 'Landing' by Alecse™ is printed in Fine Art 12 Giclées, ensuring high-quality reproductions that honor the original artistic intent. While these art prints are not meant to be crisp like photographs and intentionally include blurs and vintage effects, it's essential to distinguish these artistic choices from potential printing defects. A clear indication of a print's quality is the crispness of the signature and titles; if these elements are not sharp, it may indicate a printing issue.

For those interested in the intricate details of Alecse's work or wanting to appreciate the half-tone effect fully, we offer the option to receive a close-up picture in High Definition before placing an order. This allows customers to make informed decisions and ensures satisfaction with their purchase of vintage travel and retro posters, enhancing their collection with pieces that truly represent the artist's vision and the era's printing techniques.

Please contact us if you wish to receive a close-up picture of St Barth Poster 'Landing' in High Definition before placing your order.
