Vintage Travel Poster of Livingston, Guatemala – Limited Edition Retro Wall Art

A Gateway to Guatemala’s Caribbean Coast

Perched where the Río Dulce meets the Caribbean Sea, Livingston is one of Guatemala’s most unique and colorful towns. Unlike the rest of the country, it’s famous for its Garifuna heritage, Afro-Caribbean traditions, and relaxed coastal atmosphere. Accessible only by boat, Livingston feels like a secret destination, where jungle landscapes meet turquoise waters.

Cultural Heritage and Historic Charm

The most iconic landmark of the region is the Castillo de San Felipe, a Spanish colonial fortress built in the 17th century to protect against pirates. Over centuries, it has stood as a reminder of Guatemala’s colonial past and its importance as a trade route between inland towns and the Caribbean. Alongside this history, the rhythms of Garifuna music, traditional cuisine, and vibrant festivals make Livingston a cultural crossroad unlike anywhere else in Central America.

Alecse’s Artistic Style

This retro travel poster by Alecse blends vintage design with a halftone render that evokes the look of mid-20th-century travel advertising. Each piece is part of a limited edition of only 300 prints, hand-numbered, and available in 7 sizes. With its pastel sunset tones, palm silhouettes, and nostalgic typography, the design is a tribute to both Guatemala’s natural beauty and the golden age of travel posters.

Visual Description

The artwork highlights the stone walls of the Castillo de San Felipe, rising above the shimmering green waters of the Río Dulce. Towering palm trees frame the scene against a glowing pink and orange Caribbean sky, creating a dreamy atmosphere. The bold lettering “Livingston” and “Guatemala” anchor the composition, balancing vintage minimalism with tropical warmth.

Fun Fact

Livingston is only accessible by boat — either from Puerto Barrios on the Caribbean coast or through a stunning jungle river journey along the Río Dulce. This isolation has preserved its authentic culture and made it a favorite for adventurous travelers.

A Statement Piece for Any Interior

This poster is not just a travel souvenir, but a decorative centerpiece that brings tropical elegance and a sense of discovery into your home. Perfect for lovers of retro art, world explorers, or anyone seeking to add a touch of the Caribbean spirit to their walls.

Alecse’s Vintage Style: blurs & grains

This vintage travel poster of Livingston Poster Guatemala reflects Alecse’s distinctive artistic approach. Through his signature half-tone render, the artwork evokes the atmosphere of Guatemala with a timeless retro aesthetic.

Alecse's Original Travel Posters are celebrated for their unique half-tone render, a signature style that plays a crucial role in their appeal and authenticity. This distinctive digital effect is intentionally used to mimic the old poster printing process, where colors were rendered by the juxtaposition of dots of different sizes and colors. This method is a nod to vintage aesthetics, giving each poster a classic, retro look that aficionados of vintage travel and retro posters appreciate.

Half-Tone vs. Pixelization:

  • Half-Tone is an artistic technique used to create shading and texture effects in images. It involves the arrangement of dots of varying sizes and spacing to simulate different shades of color. This technique was traditionally used in the printing industry to reproduce photographs and illustrations with a limited color palette, contributing to a poster's vintage appearance.
  • Pixelization, on the other hand, refers to an effect seen in digital images when they are enlarged beyond their resolution. This results in the individual pixels becoming visible, making the image appear blocky or mosaic-like. Pixelization is often considered a flaw or limitation of digital images, unlike the half-tone effect, which is a deliberate artistic choice.

like all his posters, Livingston Poster Guatemala by Alecse™ is printed in Fine Art 12 Giclées, ensuring high-quality reproductions that honor the original artistic intent. While these art prints are not meant to be crisp like photographs and intentionally include blurs and vintage effects, it's essential to distinguish these artistic choices from potential printing defects. A clear indication of a print's quality is the crispness of the signature and titles; if these elements are not sharp, it may indicate a printing issue.

For those interested in the intricate details of Alecse's work or wanting to appreciate the half-tone effect fully, we offer the option to receive a close-up picture in High Definition before placing an order. This allows customers to make informed decisions and ensures satisfaction with their purchase of vintage travel and retro posters, enhancing their collection with pieces that truly represent the artist's vision and the era's printing techniques.

Please contact us if you wish to receive a close-up picture of Livingston Poster Guatemala in High Definition before placing your order.
