THE ARTWORK

This composition focuses on the seafront section of the Passeig Marítim near the Calipolis Hotel, one of the most recognisable landmarks along Sitges' promenade. A tall palm tree rises in the foreground while the hotel's distinctive curved balconies catch the Mediterranean light beneath a deep blue sky.

The scene balances architecture, coastal atmosphere and open space. The generous sky, textured with Alecse's characteristic painterly treatment, reinforces the sense of warmth, sea air and endless summer days that define life along the Sitges waterfront.

As with all artworks in the Artful Travels collection, the image combines photography, illustration and digital painting before being finished with Alecse's distinctive halftone rendering technique.

PASSEIG MARÍTIM & SITGES

The Passeig Marítim is one of Sitges' most celebrated public spaces. Running alongside the town's beaches, it connects the historic centre with the residential district of Terramar and offers some of the most beautiful coastal walks in Catalonia.

Lined with palm trees and overlooking the Mediterranean, the promenade has become one of the defining images of Sitges. Throughout the year it attracts walkers, cyclists, runners, beachgoers and visitors enjoying the town's unique blend of seaside charm, architecture and relaxed lifestyle.

The Calipolis Hotel has long been one of the best-known landmarks along this stretch of coastline, instantly recognisable thanks to its elegant curved façade overlooking the sea.

ALECSE'S VINTAGE STYLE

Like all posters in the Artful Travels collection, this artwork is created using Alecse's distinctive vintage-inspired process. The image incorporates a visible halftone texture that recreates the appearance of classic mid-century travel posters. This effect becomes increasingly visible in larger formats, adding depth, character and authenticity to the artwork.

Alecse’s Vintage Style: blurs & grains

This vintage travel poster of Passeig Marítim Poster Sitges reflects Alecse’s distinctive artistic approach. Through his signature half-tone render, the artwork evokes the atmosphere of Spain with a timeless retro aesthetic.

Alecse's Original Travel Posters are celebrated for their unique half-tone render, a signature style that plays a crucial role in their appeal and authenticity. This distinctive digital effect is intentionally used to mimic the old poster printing process, where colors were rendered by the juxtaposition of dots of different sizes and colors. This method is a nod to vintage aesthetics, giving each poster a classic, retro look that aficionados of vintage travel and retro posters appreciate.

Half-Tone vs. Pixelization:

  • Half-Tone is an artistic technique used to create shading and texture effects in images. It involves the arrangement of dots of varying sizes and spacing to simulate different shades of color. This technique was traditionally used in the printing industry to reproduce photographs and illustrations with a limited color palette, contributing to a poster's vintage appearance.
  • Pixelization, on the other hand, refers to an effect seen in digital images when they are enlarged beyond their resolution. This results in the individual pixels becoming visible, making the image appear blocky or mosaic-like. Pixelization is often considered a flaw or limitation of digital images, unlike the half-tone effect, which is a deliberate artistic choice.

like all his posters, Passeig Marítim Poster Sitges by Alecse™ is printed in Fine Art 12 Giclées, ensuring high-quality reproductions that honor the original artistic intent. While these art prints are not meant to be crisp like photographs and intentionally include blurs and vintage effects, it's essential to distinguish these artistic choices from potential printing defects. A clear indication of a print's quality is the crispness of the signature and titles; if these elements are not sharp, it may indicate a printing issue.

For those interested in the intricate details of Alecse's work or wanting to appreciate the half-tone effect fully, we offer the option to receive a close-up picture in High Definition before placing an order. This allows customers to make informed decisions and ensures satisfaction with their purchase of vintage travel and retro posters, enhancing their collection with pieces that truly represent the artist's vision and the era's printing techniques.

Please contact us if you wish to receive a close-up picture of Passeig Marítim Poster Sitges in High Definition before placing your order.
